You can — but water problems almost never stay the same size. Moisture feeds mold, wrecks anything you store, corrodes mechanicals, and freeze–thaw keeps widening whatever path the water found. It also comes up on inspection when you sell: a documented dry basement helps your home's value, while a known water issue gives every buyer a reason to negotiate down.
Not if water is actively coming through the wall.
